Your Excellency Respected President Abdul Kalam,

Today, I have the honour to present to Your Excellency the Letter of Credence by which H.E. President Hu Jintao of the People's Republic of China appoints me Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to India. First of all, please allow me to take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency the cordial greetings of H.E. President Hu Jintao and extend, on behalf of the Chinese Government and people, best wishes to the Government and people of India.

India is an ancient civilization with a time-honored history. The hardworking and intelligent Indian people has made outstanding contributions to the progress of mankind. At present, in its efforts to develop national economy, India has made striking achievements and development in the fields of social development, culture, science and technology, education etc. We hereby wish to express our appreciation and admiration. We sincerely hope that Government and people would achieve even more accomplishment in the path of national construction.

China and India are linked by common mountains and rivers. Friendly exchanges between the two countries go back a long time. In the interactions during the past two thousand years and more, our two peoples have nurtured profound friendship. Since modern times, China and India, in pursuit of national independence and liberation, have sympathized with and supported each other. As the two largest developing countries in the world, China and India are faced with the common mission of developing economy and improving the people's living standards. Good neighborliness, friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two countries not only serves the shared interests of the two peoples, but also conduces to peace, stability and development of Asia and the world at large. I am confident that with the joint efforts of our two governments and peoples, the long-term constructive and cooperative China-India partnership is bound to scale new heights.

Your Excellency, Mr. President, I feel deeply honored to be appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to India. At the same time, I am fully aware of my heavy responsibilities. During my tenure of office, I will exert my efforts to expand and deepen good-neighborliness, friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation, enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the governments and peoples, and bring China-India relations to a new high. I firmly believe that, in carrying out this important mission, I shall have the friendly cooperation and full support from Your Excellency and Your Government.

May the Republic of India enjoy prosperity and its people well-being!

May China-India good neighborliness, friendship and mutually- beneficial cooperation develop continuously!

May Your Excellency enjoy good health!
