President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan Meets with Wang Yi

On September 12, 2020 local time, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Nur-Sultan.

Wang Yi firstly conveyed President Xi Jinping's verbal message to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Wang Yi said, China and Kazakhstan, as good neighbors and partners, have enjoyed long-term stable relations. President XiJinping and Mr. President have forged firm mutual trust and deep friendship and jointly announced the upgrading of China-Kazakhstan relations to a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, opening a new historical chapter in China-Kazakhstan relations. It is hoped that both sides will continue to work together to make China-Kazakhstan long-lasting friendship a consensus among all works of life in the two countries and transform it into actual actions to deepen cooperation in various fields.The Chinese side appreciates the significant results achieved by the Kazakh side in the fight against the pandemic, and is willing to continue to support Kazakhstan in fighting against the pandemic to the best of its ability, share its experience in diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients, and strengthen cooperation in the research and development of vaccines and drugs.

Wang Yi said, President Xi Jinping proposed to foster a new development architecture with the domestic cycle as the mainstay and with domestic and international development reinforcing each other, which is the inevitable choice for China to boost and expand its economy, as well as an important measure to deal with the volatile international situation. The expansion of the Chinese market and the deepening of China's opening up will provide more opportunities for countries to cooperate with China. The Chinese side welcomes the Kazakh side's attendance at this year's China International Import Expo. China and Kazakhstan are a community with a shared future. The Chinese side will firmly defend the China-Kazakhstan friendship, unwaveringly supporting the Kazakh government's measures to maintain its stable development and improve the wellbeing of its people. The two sides will jointly stick to multilateralism and the international system with the United Nations at the core, maintain regional peace and stability, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked President Xi Jinping for his important verbal message and asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude for the Chinese side's assistance in sending medical materials and experts to fight against the pandemic. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in vaccine research and development. The Kazakh side's foreign policy to develop friendly relations with China will never change, which is its established strategic policy. The Kazakh side is willing to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields in order to bring more benefits to the two peoples.

No matter how the international situation may evolve, the Kazakh side opposes interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, and stands ready to work with the Chinese side to combat disinformation, including the spread of false information through social media to undermine domestic stability. The Kazakh side is willing to strengthen Kazakhstan-China cultural and people-to-people exchanges, cement cooperation in the fields of youth, education, and culture, and welcome the opening of more Confucius Institutions in Kazakhstan.
