On the afternoon of Sept. 29, 2004, the India-China Society hosted a grand rally in the Constitution Club in New Delhi to mark the 55th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The rally was attended by Indian Petroleum Minister M. S. Ayyer, Delhi High Court Justice Vijender Jain, along with some 300 Indian friendly personages from all walks of life.

Ambassador Hua Junduo was present at the function and delivered a cordial speech. He briefed in his speech on the great achievements made in the past 55 years since the founding of the New China, especially after the beginning of reform and opening-up. He spoke highly of the good momentum of development of the bilateral relations between China and India and the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The India-China Society President and General Secretary, Delhi High Court Justice and Indian State Trade Corporation Chairman as well as other Indian friends delivered speeches. They expressed their congratulations on and admiration for the great economic, social and other achievements made by the New China since its founding, especially over the past 20 years of reform and opening up. They believed that India and China should have all-round cooperation to make more contributions to the peace and development of Asia and the world at large. They also hoped the border between the two countries could serve as a bridge of friendship between the two peoples and friendship could last for generations.

The India China Friendship Association, Foundation Unity International, India-China Elite Group and other friendship organizations also hosted seminars, dinners and other kinds of celebrations.
