On December 31, 2004, Mr. Zheng Qingdian, the charge d' affaires a.i. of Chinese Embassy in India, on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China, conveyed the donation of Indian Rupees Twenty Two Lakhs to the Indian Red Cross Society to help the rescue and relief work in the tsunami-stricken areas of India.
The China Red Cross Society had donated one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society prior to this move.
