Photo Exhibition of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Inaugurated in Kolkata

On the evening of Nov. 26, 2007, a photo exhibition of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was inaugurated in the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal and Mr. Subhas Chakraborty, the Honorable State Minister In-charge of Sports & Youth Affairs of West Bengal and Mr. Mao Siwei, Consul General of China in Kolkata attended the inaugural function and made speeches.

 

In his speech, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between China and India in various fields and expressed his satisfaction over the trade, economic and cultural cooperation between West Bengal and China. He said West Bengal is open to Chinese investment. He said he was also looking forward to a successful Olympic Games in Beijing.

Consul General Mao Siwei said the reopening of the Chinese Consul General in Kolkata in 45 years is a clear sign of the rapid development of Indo-China relations in recent years and promised to do a good job in promoting the friendship between the two countries.

The function was also attended by more than 300 people of all walks of life of India .
