On October 27, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna attended the meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries in Bangalore, India. The ministers exchanged in-depth views on deepening trilateral cooperation and on international and regional issues of common concern, and reached important consensus.

Yang highly evaluated the trilateral cooperation and said that as representatives of emerging economies, the three countries have worked hard to implement the agreement reached at the Yekaterinburg meeting over the past one year and have made positive progress in pragmatic cooperation in all fields. The three countries have been efficiently communicating with each other to coordinate positions and provide mutual support and cooperation, in order to address together the international financial crisis and protect their common interests, said Yang. This has played an important role in stabilizing global economy and pushing the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction, said Yang.

Yang also said that along with the enhancement of the three countries' strength, as well as the enlargement of mutual demand for cooperation and increase of common interests, the trilateral cooperation has entered a new historical stage and enjoys broad prospect. Yang expressed his hope that the three countries would make joint efforts to continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation in all fields, stimulate economic growth, and realize a win-win situation for all. Yang also hoped that the three countries will further strengthen communication and coordination and keep closer cooperation, to contribute positively to a balanced and sustained development of global economy, the building of a multi-polar world and the democratization of international relations.

The foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the outcome from cooperation and meetings over the past one year. They agreed that the current international situation continues to undergo profound and complex changes, with all kinds of global problems becoming the major challenges facing the international community. They agreed that the three countries should further strengthen cooperation, and play a positive role in protecting common interests of emerging economies and all developing countries, safeguarding world peace and pushing for common development.

The three foreign ministers also agreed that their countries should deepen and strengthen cooperation in the fields of disaster relief and mitigation, agriculture, medical care and public health, infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, trade and investment, for the benefit of the people of the three countries.

The three foreign ministers welcomed the role played by G20 as a major platform of international economic cooperation, and called for the reflection of representativeness, equality and efficiency in global economic governance mechanisms, to ensure voice and representation of emerging economies and developing countries. The final goal of the reform of the international financial governance structure is equal sharing of voting rights between developed countries and developing countries.

The three foreign ministers reaffirmed that they attached great importance to the issue of climate change and expressed willingness to further strengthen international cooperation in this field by following the basic principle of common but differentiated responsibilities stipulated in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the "Bali Roadmap", in order to contribute positively to the success of the UN Copenhagen Climate Conference to be held late this year.

The ministers said the three countries would continue to push forward exchange and cooperation among the members, observers and dialogue partners within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in order to safeguard peace, stability and development of the region.

Following the meeting, the three foreign ministers issued a joint communique on the meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries and met with the press.
