Handling of the Visa of China

Foreign students of governmental scholarships can, by the Admission and the Visa Application Form for the Studying Visa Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW201 form) in China both delivered by the Chinese universities, Physical Examination Record of Foreigner, submit applications to Chinese embassies and consulates for X visa within due terms.

Students of in-college exchanges projects and self-paid students chosen by the Chinese universities can, by the Admission and the Visa Application Form for Self-Supporting Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW202 form) Form both delivered by the Chinese universities and the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, submit applications to Chinese embassies and consulates for X visa within due terms.

Those who stay in China for less than half a year may apply for F visa.

Entrance Procedures

Foreign students should enter within the due terms of the visas, and undergo the inspections at frontiers inspection station, customs and health department.

Frontier inspection Generally foreign students should choose a port of entry which is near the city where the universities to attend. A passport inspection at the frontier inspection station is required for entrance into China.

Foreign students with X visas must handle provisional accommodation registrations within 24 hours, and residence permits at local police stations within 30 days after they pass the frontier inspections.

Customs inspection Foreign students must accurately complete the Passenger’s Application for Articles in Their Luggage and report to Customs what they carry when entering China. Customs will release items without payment of duty or tax them in line with relevant regulations.

Health quarantine Foreign students entering China are required to truthfully fill the Passenger’s Health Report formalities and show the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner by hospitals or their protective inoculation certificates. At the arrival of universities, they need go to local health quarantine departments for an inspection of their health certificates. If the health records are found out of date, or some items are lack or not proper, then re-examinations are necessary. Residence and enrollment procedures are dealt with only after they pass the certificate inspections or health inspections by the health quarantine departments.

Enrollment Registration

All sorts of foreign students enrolled by Chinese universities need register in person at the receptions according to the dates by the Entrance Notice. Those who fall to do so due to reasonable reasons should ask for permissions by the universities in advance, or otherwise the enrollment may be cancelled.

All the registering foreign students need participate in the procedures of accommodation, health quarantine, residence and payment of registration fee.
